Let me begin by thanking our first Honorary Member, The Honorable District Attorney James M. Catterson, Jr. for his informative presentation at our first meeting, on January 13, 1999. We had 85 attendees, to help set yet another record for the Long Island Chapter. I would also like to especially thank and congratulate the many hard working professionals on the Board of Directors and the various Chapter Committees. Hats off to our exciting Membership for the active level of participation thus far. We are certainly operating at a much higher level of success than any other professional organization. From a growth standpoint, we have surpassed all expectations by everyone at The Association (National Headquarters). Naturally, as Long Islander’s, it is not enough and we still want more. As of last count, our Membership was at approximately 160, with all dues paid. I am told that we should be happy with that figure. Naturally, we want more membership. In order for us to be in a true position of strength and power, as an organization, both for attracting speakers and reaching our other goals, we must strive for the largest and most active membership possible. Since Long Island is internationally known and respected as one of the best economies in the World, anything less than the largest Chapter in the ACFE, will not make us happy and content. That having been said, my plan is simple: EVERY MEMBER is expected to bring at least one additional member into LICFE. Lets start with the March 16th meeting at the Westbury Manor. If everyone brings a guest, it will sure be a nice meeting. Since so many of our CPA members are busy with Tax Season, in your honor, we have two top level speakers from your friends at the IRS—Randy Rowley and George Tierney. We also will present another “Case of the Month,” since it was so well received at the January meeting. We will again present all meeting attendees with certificates for TWO CPE Credits, because of the two educational programs. From an operational standpoint, the Membership Certificates and Cards are in the final stages of preparation and should be in the Charter Members’ hands within a month. Our Web Site should also be fully operational, within the next month. Naturally, there is always room for helping hands on the various Chapter Committees. Anyone interested in VOLUNTEERING some time and energy, or Corporate Sponsorships of Chapter activities, please contact the LICFE Office, at (516) 931-0010. As a final note, our Meetings & Seminar Committee has been working closely with our Educational Committee to keep the momentum of our activity and growth going. Both committees have been aggressive in their planning of the first LICFE full day training seminar. Very truly yours,
David E. Zeldin, CFE |
